Inside Line Promotions – GRAND FORKS, N.D. – Sprint car drivers love a race track as long as it provides two grooves.

That’s why River Cities Speedway is a preferred track for the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, which makes its first of two visits to the bullring this Friday.

“For as small as it is, it’s really fast,” Defending World of Outlaws champion Daryn Pittman said.

River Cities Speedway owns the fastest lap turned during World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series qualifying at 9.269 seconds (Jason Meyers in 2009). However, that time was surpassed last Friday by Thomas Kennedy, who recorded a lap of 8.691 seconds during his heat race at the 3/10-mile oval.

Pittman and the rest of the Outlaws will get their chance to top the charts this Friday at River Cities Speedway, which is not only fast but extremely racy.

“We get around there really quick and you’re always racing for position with guys,” Pittman said. “It makes for exciting racing for the fans.”

Since that electrifying World of Outlaws record was established, seven drivers have picked up a win with the past six races featuring a different winner.

The World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series will also compete at River Cities Speedway on Aug. 15.
