Trenca Learns After First Races at Lincoln Speedway, Williams Grove Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – SELINSGROVE, Pa. (June 10, 2014) – Joe Trenca endured a roller-coaster weekend during the URC tripleheader in Pennsylvania.

After competing at a pair of tracks he’d never raced on, Trenca capped the weekend with a 17th-place finish at Selinsgrove Speedway last Saturday.

“The tracks we were at were hard tracks and there’s a lot of good competition,” he said. “I struggled to figure out the tracks and I had a few driver errors. We’ll take the performance at Selinsgrove and move on to this weekend.”

Last week kicked off on Wednesday at Lincoln Speedway in Abbottstown, where Trenca made his first career visit. However, after finishing eighth in his heat race, weather engulfed the track and the event was rained out.

Two days later came Trenca’s first-ever race at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg.

“It’s definitely a cool track and was a cool experience,” he said. “I just wish it would have gone a little better. It was tough. They start races going into turn three instead of coming out of turn four. I never knew that. I got jumped on the start and fell back to fifth or sixth.”

After starting his heat race on the outside of the front row, Trenca lost several positions on the start of the race before finishing seventh. That relegated him to the B Main, which Trenca placed ninth in to end his night early.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Selinsgrove Speedway.

“The results didn’t show it, but we made a lot of progress,” he said. “I was running sixth in the heat race and I got put in the wall.”

Trenca ended where he started – seventh – in his heat race, which sent him to the B Main. This time Trenca led the entire race to earn a transfer to the main event.

“We were really good early,” he said. “I was running the top and I think I used up my stuff too quickly. We were up to 12th or 13th and I moved to the bottom to try to save and I think I had used my stuff too early. We lost a few positions.”

Trenca finished with a 17th-place result.

He will return to Selinsgrove Speedway this Saturday with the Patriot Sprint Tour.
