INDIANA, WASHINGTON & OHIO (2) HOSTS HPD MIDGETS;  BUCKLEY, GOETZ & CRUM GRAB WINS

USAC HPD Midget racing ventures into Indiana, Washington and Ohio this week. Patrick Bruns leads the Midwest series to Wednesday night’s race at Gas City (Ind.) I-69 Speedway, while Chase Goetz tops the Washington standings entering Saturday’s race at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma. The Midwest pavement series, led by Austin Nemire, travels to Ohio for back-to-back races at Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia Friday and Columbus Motor Speedway Saturday.

USAC HPD Washington Midget point leader Chase Goetz of Snohomish, Wash. trailed Garrett Thomas for 22 laps, then led the last three to win Saturday night’s 25-lap feature at Skagit Speedway. Thomas, who led the first 22 laps, took second and was followed by Al Goldie, Dougie James and Michael Millard. Awards went to Thomas (Elma Auto Racing Hall of Fame FQ), Lance Hallmark (Speedmart Hard Charger), Goldie (JOES Racing Move of the Night), James (K & N Sportsman) and Hannah Lindquist (Highline Performance Random Pick).

Chance Crum of Snohomish, Wash. led the final 17 laps to win Friday night’s HPD USAC Washington “special event” Midget race at Deming Speedway. He passed Dougie James on the ninth lap and led the rest of the way to beat James, Robbie Price, Lance Hallmark and Todd Hartman. Special awards were garnered by Crum (Elma Auto Racing Hall of Fame FQ and JOES Racing Move of the night), Millard (Highline Performance Random Pick), Hallmark (K & N Sportsman) and Price (SPEEDMART Hard Charger).

USAC HPD Western Midget point leader Shawn Buckley of Simi Valley, Calif. led all 30 laps to win Saturday night’s “Pombo/Sargent Classic” HPD feature at Madera Speedway. Cody Jessop was second ahead of Dylan Nobile, Tom Patterson and Toni Breidinger. The Western pavement series resumes June 28 at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway.
