Another Up And Down Weekend For Covington

Covington Motorsports- GLENPOOL, Ok. (June 4, 2014) Matt Covington had a up and down weekend last Friday and Saturday night. Matt picked up a 13th place finish at the Salina Speedway on Friday night and a 17th place finish at Eagle Raceway with the ASCS National Tour on Saturday.

On Friday night Matt and the team took on the Salina Speedway in Kansas.

After a good heat race draw Covington would race to a third place heat finish.

The third place finish in the heat would line Covington up in the 13th starting position for the feature. After a handful of laps into the feature Matt would have to check up to avoid an accident and find himself spinning out and tagging the rear of the field. After going to the back, Covington fought hard to race himself back up into a respectable finishing position. As the checkers fell Matt would have to settle for the 13th spot.

Saturday night would have Covington and the crew making the trip to Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Nebraska.

After a deep pill draw, Matt would find himself lining up in the back of his heat for the night. With a good handling car, Covington fought hard in the heat to come home in the fourth position.

The fourth place finish would line Matt up in the front row of the B Main. With the front row starting position Matt would walk away with the B Main win and secure a starting spot at the rear of the A Main field.

At the drop of the green Covington would find himself battling his way toward the front. Covington would battle his way into the top ten midway into the feature before his luck would run out and sideline him for the night. Matt would find himself deep into the cushion in turn 1 and 2 while bicycling the car in the air. Luckily Matt would be able to save it from turning over. However the end result would be a DNF and a trip to the trailer for the remainder of the night with slight damage.

“This past weekend was another frustrating weekend for me,” stated Covington. " On Friday night we got into an accident early but to be honest the car was not as good as I would of liked and not sure we could of went much farther forward once we got into the top ten. I was hoping for a better night Saturday but I just misjudged my entry getting into turn 1 and bicycled the car on the tricky cushion. I really hate the results we have had lately, but I just have to remain positive and like I have said before, all we can do is keep plugging away and working hard until our luck turns around."

Matt and his Covington Motorsports team would like to thank T&L Foundry, Triple X Chassis, Winters, Brodix, C.G. Martin Company, Factor 1 Racing, All-Star Performance, Outlaw Wings, Pro Shocks, DMI Components, Keizer Wheels, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, GME Steering, Wesmar Racing Engines, Bob Hurley RV, Eaton Industrial, Maxwell Oil, and Schoenfeld Headers for their support in 2014.
