USAC HPD Midgets compete in Western Pavement and Washington races this week. Friday’s race at Deming (Wash.) Speedway is a non-points “special event” but Saturday’s race at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash. offers full Washington points. Saturday’s race at Madera (Calif.) Speedway for the Western Pavement series is part of an event which also includes the Honda USAC Western Pavement and BCRA Midgets.
Chase Goetz (Washington) and Shawn Buckley (Western Pavement) enter the weekend as the respective series point leaders.
Dougie James of Shoreline, Wash. finally found the winners circle Saturday night, winning the 25-lap USAC Washington HPD Midget feature at Grays Harbor Raceway. He caught Chase Goetz on the 19th lap and led the final seven circuits to beat Garrett Thomas, point leader Goetz, Hannah Lindquist and Chance Crum. Award winners included James (SpeedMart Hard Charger), Crum (Elma Lanes Pill Pick), Lindquist (Elma Auto Racing Hall of Fame Fast Time), Garrett Thomas (JOES Racing Move of the Night), Hartman K & N Sportsman) and Biggs (Highline Performance Random App Pick).
USAC Midwest HPD Pavement Midget point leader Austin Nemire of Toledo, Ohio led all 30 laps to win Saturday night’s 30-lap feature at Kalamazoo Speedway. Blaine Leydig took second ahead of Adam Thomason, Wil Raber and Eric Lewis. Nemire leads Calvin Carroll by 102 points in the latest standings going into a June 13 race at Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia., Ohio.
Scott Hunter of Wald Lake, Mich. passed Nikki Carroll on the final lap to win Saturday night’s 20-lap USAC HPD Eastern Midget feature at Caraway Speedway. Calvin Carroll led the first 18 laps, then Nikki Carroll led one before yielding to Hunter. Matthew Lundstrom took second on the final lap and was followed by Nikki Carroll, Calvin Carroll and Dillon Silverman.
