Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (May 27, 2014) – The potent combination of Mark Burch Motorsports and driver Danny Lasoski nearly captured a trio of top fives last weekend.
“I’m not happy without winning,” Lasoski said. “We go there to win and anything short of that, we’re not satisfied.”
The weekend opened last Friday with the ASCS Midwest Region at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Neb., where Lasoski charged from fourth to win his heat race. That earned him a spot in the feature redraw, where he pulled the highest number – eight – in the random draw to start the main event on the outside of the fourth row.
Lasoski hustled the Mark Burch Motorsports entry into the top five and he was running fourth in the closing laps when engine issues forced him to the pits early.
“I think we hurt it in the heat,” he said. “We weren’t a contender for the win. Unfortunately we had an engine failure.”
Lasoski was credited with a 16th-place result.
On Saturday, the team hauled to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, to compete in the 410ci division. Lasoski qualified ninth quickest, which was only eight thousandths of a second out of eighth place – the final spot in the feature redraw.
After advancing from fourth to third place in his heat race, Lasoski started the main event on the inside of the fifth row.
“I picked off a car at a time,” he said. “I could run the bottom really well. We ran right with the leaders. For me to be able to win I would have had to get by (Davey Heskin) early because he was running my line.”
Lasoski was involved in a four-car battle for the lead during the final laps before he ended with a fourth-place result.
The weekend concluded on Sunday at I-80 Speedway with the Nebraska 360 Sprints. Lasoski maneuvered from fourth to win his heat race to lock himself into the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 3 to start the main event on the inside of the second row.
“They dropped the green flag and (Jack Dover) went around everybody,” he said. “A couple of laps later I got by (Brian Brown) and ran down Dover. I slid him in turns three and four and he got by me both times.”
Lasoski and Dover waged an epic battle throughout wet conditions with Dover edging Lasoski for the win.
Lasoski’s runner-up finish was his fourth top five in seven races this season with Mark Burch Motorsports.
