Inside Line Promotions – EAGLE, Neb. (May 22, 2014) – There isn’t better racing than the Hinchman Racewear Eagle Nationals, which invades Eagle Raceway on Saturday, May 31.
The prestigious Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour race has produced four different winners in five features since TBJ Promotions took over the marquee event in 2010.
“That’s one of the biggest reasons why we have a race there,” TBJ Promotions Founder Tony Bruce Jr. said. “I’ve never been at that place and never been satisfied with the opportunity of being able to race. From a promoter’s standpoint, it’s awesome because it provides good racing for the fans. From a driver’s standpoint, it’s awesome as well because the main reason we do this sport is to compete. I’m excited to bring the ASCS National Tour to one of the best venues in the country.”
Another unique aspect of the race is the high level of competition. In addition to the headlining ASCS National Tour drivers, a strong contingent of regional racers are ready to put up a fight for the title of Hinchman Racewear Eagle Nationals champion.
“I’m expecting to win it,” said 2011 winner Jack Dover, who hails from nearby Springfield, Neb. “It’s my home track. It’s a big race and I have a big chance of winning it every year.”
Dover has recorded four straight top 10s in the event after flipping in the closing laps during the inaugural race while he was running second.
“I’ve won a lot of races there,” he said. “I know how to get around it and so do a lot of other drivers here. I’d say the Midwest is one of the toughest regions. We have 10 or 12 drivers that can win.”
Fellow Nebraska resident Jordan Boston nearly captured his first career Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour win during the Hinchman Racewear Eagle Nationals in 2011 and there are a host of others who are hot on the trails of Dover and Boston to go head to head against the vaunted national drivers.
Leading the way for the ASCS National Tour is four-time series champion Jason Johnson. Although he is the current championship points leader this season, Johnson is searching for his first national victory of the season.
Johnson won the Hinchman Racewear Eagle Nationals in 2010 and he has picked up four top fives in the five main events.
Danny Wood claimed the preliminary feature in 2010. Brady Bacon swept the doubleheader in 2012. Rain cancelled the preliminary night in 2011 and it washed out last year’s competition.
