Wilmot Raceway and 141 Speedway are target locations for 900hp sprint car action!
May 20, 2014; Appleton, WI. – It is time to celebrate the Memorial Day weekend, and the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint Series fans will have the opportunity to double their fun as the tour plans to present two complete shows over the holiday weekend.
It all begins this Saturday night May 24th, when the series heads to its birthplace, the Wilmot Raceway.
Modifieds, street stocks and mini-sprints will join the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints for the Wilmot show.
The semi-banked third-mile clay oval located in the far southeastern part of the state will host a total of five IRA contests this season, and this Saturday’s program is the first appearance of the year.
Nearly a dozen IRA drivers participated in the recently held World of Outlaws special at Wilmot Raceway with six-time, and defending Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint series champion, Bill Balog, faring best with a 15th place performance.
The track also held it’s own 410 sprint show in early May and former track champion Tommy Sexton came away with the victory after a hard fought battle with Brian Kristan.
The Wilmot race will see likely see the first appearances by both Sexton and Kristan in IRA competition this season.
The grandstand gates will open at 5:00pm with the racing action set to get underway at 6:45pm.
The Kenosha County Fairgrounds where the track resides is located just north of the intersection of county roads C and W in Wilmot, WI. Wilmot, Wisconsin is located just 8 miles west of I-94 taking county highway C which is exit 345.
For those seeking additional information please check out the track website at www.wilmotraceway.com or call the track on race day at 262-862-2090.
Then it will be a Sunday morning road trip after the Wilmot event, as the series packs up and heads north to the 141 Speedway. The tight little bullring features furious action as IRA’s winged warriors turn laps at the track in the 11 second range. It’s all about action and reaction when the series travels to 141 Speedway.
Jeremy Schultz, the 2013 Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprint series rookie of the year was the most recent victor at the track.
Heading into the weekend Bill Balog has clawed his way to the top of the point heap, but it hasn’t been easy for the six-time champ. A third place finish as his best showing thus far in 2014. Balog has captured five of the last seven contests at the 141 Speedway track and looks to take his familiar #17b back to victory lane.
Phillip Mock has been perhaps the hottest driver on the circuit, he scored his first career series win in the 2014 season opener at Beaver Dam Raceway, and then gave proof that the victory was no fluke backing up that performance with another win at Beaver Dam this past weekend.
Mike Reinke has also been on a roll. He has tallied a third place run in the season opening contest and a strong runner-up finish in the most recent IRA show. He currently sits second in the series standings.
Former World of Outlaws regular Bill Rose of Plainfield, Indiana should also be in the thick of the battle as he has been a familiar face on the IRA circuit this season narrowly missing a win in the first race of the season.
The Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints will be joined by Vintage Cars, INEX Legends and IMCA Hobby Stock for the 141 Speedway program.
Adult admission is $20 and the first green flag of the night is set to fly at 6:00pm. For those who wish to arrive early for the best seating spectator gates will open at 4:00pm. The pits will open at 2:00pm.
