Third and Fourth Place Finishes Highlight Haudenschild's Week

PETERSEN MEDIA: Fresh off of a pair of podiums, including a win, with the All Star Circuit of Champions, Jac Haudenschild and his Destiny Motorsports team spent their weekend with Pennsylvania and a fourth place finish with the World of Outlaws and a third place finish at Roaring Knob highlighted their weekend.

Kicking off their Pennsylvania week on Wednesday at the Lincoln Speedway in Abbotstown, PA with the World of Outlaws, Haudenschild timed the MonDak Portables/Rick Rogers Construction/Renegade Rentals entry in 15th fastest putting him on the front row of his heat race.

Getting the jump on Sammy Swindell on the start of his heat, Haudenschild went on to win the heat race convincingly, setting the eight-lap track record briefly, putting him in the Feature and the important Dash.

Finding himself on the pole of the Dash, Haudenschild got the jump over Stevie Smith, and after leading a few laps, ‘The Wild Child’ slipped to the second spot, though still putting his machine on the front row of the feature event.

With Stevie Smith getting the jump and leading the first lap, Haudenschild took advantage of a lap two yellow, and rocketed to the lead, as he led the next eleven laps before the caution waived again.

Smith got the jump on the restart, and Haud ran in second, and the top-four put on a show in lapped traffic, and though he slipped to fourth, everyone was pleased with the effort in the hard fought race.

Heading to the Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night, rain in the area the night before forced the track crew to tightly pack and seal the surface with any hope of racing, and the result was a hard, slick surface all night, and as the 42nd car out of 43 to time in, the team’s fate was pretty much determined early in then night.

Though he was able to transfer out of the C, Haudenschild’s night would end in the B.

Saturday night brought a much better surface, and pill draw, as Haudenschild was the 12th car to hit the track, and timed in 11th fastest.

A tough start to his heat race saw the Wooster, OH driver fall back to the fourth spot, but he was able to transfer directly to the feature event, that would eventually go non-stop.

Lining up in the 14th spot, the track wasn’t as abrasive and slick as it was on Friday, but it did slick off, and many teams used the bottom of the speedway, and passing was at a premium.

When the dust settled on the event, Haudenschild crossed the stripe in the 14th spot.

Sunday night, the team headed to Roaring Knob for an open competition show on their way back to their Indiana shop.

Timing in fifth fastest, Haudenschild picked up a fourth place finish in heat race action, putting him in the third row for the feature event.

When the race went green, Haudenschild powered his way up into the fourth spot as he chased after Dave Blaney, Josh Davis, and Trey Gustin.

By the second lap, Haud moved around Davis and Gustin to take the second spot, and begin chasing after leader, Blaney.

With Blaney out front, Haudenschild began to close in on the leader who had found lapped traffic when the caution waived and gave him a clear track.

Haudenschild ran in the second spot, and as Blaney caught traffic again, he was not bailed out by the caution, and Haudenschild was able to get under him on the 19th lap, and take command of the race.

Out in front with a collapsed nose wing, Blaney pulled the same move on Haudenschild on the 26th lap to retake the lead, and on the 29th lap he fell back to the third spot where he would go on to finish.

“This Rick Rogers car is rolling really good right now, and hopefully we can keep it up,” the Wooster, OH driver said. “We were pretty good at Lincoln, and Williams Grove was pretty tough on a lot of people, but we will end our weekend with a good run and hopefully have this continue.”
