The Grays Harbor Raceway Season Opener has been postponed until next Saturday, May 17th.
There has been a tremendous amount of rain over the past couple of days and more is predicted overnight and at times tomorrow. After conferring with the track crew, it was obvious that the chances of getting the track in good racing condition was unrealistic. "Having not run on the track at all this year, it is still very soft and the on and off rain is not helping the conditions. The forecast is showing rain overnight and a higher than normal chance of rain during the afternoon hours," said promoter Steve Beitler. "The county, track, and maintenance crews have worked very hard to literally rebuild the facility in the last six weeks. There are still some projects that are being completed and when you couple that with the weather it is obvious that we need to move the start back one week".
The May 17th Season Opener will feature the NW Wingless Sprint Car Tour, the Cut Rate Auto Parts Street Stocks, the USAC Ignite Midgets and the Outlaw Tuners (Hornets). Gates open at 5:30pm with racing at 7:00pm.
