TULSA, Okla. (May 1, 2014) - The Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real takes to tracks in Oklahoma and Arkansas this coming weekend, but one of the most anticipated returns of the season is within sight as the National Tour of the ASCS Nation heads back to the Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan. on Thursday, May 8 for the McCarthy Auto Group KC Klassic presented by the Racinboys.com.
The second event of the season for TBJ Promotions, the co-promoted event with Racinboys.com will bring the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour as well as the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region together just days before the NASCAR Sprint Cup goes under the lights for the first time at the Kansas Speedway.
"I've been going to Lakeside Speedway since 1966 and being out on the road the past six years with ASCS I realize that the best action when it comes to on track, is with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour and I want the fans, and the people who I grew up with to see what I see each and every week," explained Scott Traylor of his reasons behind the KC Klassic at Lakeside.
The first visit of the season to the state of Kansas, the half-mile, semi-banked oval has seen the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American Real on two occasions with Gary Wright (7/7/07) and Wayne Johnson (7/4/2008) taking victories.
"Bringing the National Tour back, and putting "Klassic" on it is because there's a lot of history with Sprint Cars racing at Lakeside back in the day," explained Traylor. "Putting this on, for me, it brings me back to the days of Lakeside with families like the Weld family raced. It was huge then, and I'm hoping to bring it back to what it once was."
The Thursday event is the first Mid-Week event for the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by MAVTV American real in 2014 with a $3,000 winner's check up for grabs.
Tickets for the Thursday night affair are on sale at http://www.racinboys.com as well as http://www.tbjpromotions.com. Tickets purchased in advance are $20.00 and can be purchased until 11:59 P.M. (CT) on Wednesday, May 7, 2014.
According to Scott, ticket sales for the Lakeside event are going very fast, and after confirming with Tony Bruce, Jr., the event is showing the highest volume to pre-ticket sales of any TBJ Promotions event so far.
"I want people to know that we want this to be a long lasting event, and we are going to continue to make it a bigger. Our goal next year is to bring in Non-Wing Sprint Cars as well, and bring back the atmosphere we use to have when the Sprint Bandits would come here."
Thursday, May 8 will see gates for the McCarthy Auto Group KC Klassic presented by Racinboys.com opening at 5:00 P.M. (CT) with races getting underway at 7:30 P.M at Lakeside Speedway. For continued updates and information, log onto http://www.ascsracing.com.
