Bristol, WI – May 1, 2014. Bill Balog and the B2 Motorsports team finally got the 2014 racing season underway this past weekend as they made the hour trek north to the Beaver Dam Raceway for the Jim Wipperfurth Memorial. The team was greeted with cool temperatures and a new racing surface at the high banked, third mile clay oval. Bill and team looked like they would start in the same fashion as they ended the 2013 season as Bill would power the 17B sprinter to his first quicktime of the season lining him up with a 6th place starting position in the first heat race. At the drop of the green Bill would move into the 5th position and a tight battle with the 4K of Kris Spitz before finally ducking underneath him in turns one and two to move into the 4th position. The top three had checked out, but Bill began to real them in and would finish on Ben Schmidt’s bumper to finish in the 4th position. Bill would draw the #4 pill for the feature invert setting him up with an 8th place starting position. When the green was displayed it, it would only last one set of turns as a car would spin coming out of turn two bringing out the caution before a lap could be complete. Under the yellow flag conditions, the left front tire on the 17B sprinter went flat causing Bill to head to the work area. The team worked feverously to get the tire changed and get Bill back on the track. Once back on track Bill would line up last and methodically make his way through the pack up to the 4th position where he would finish with the top 3 finishers just ahead of him.
