Inside Line Promotions – ABILENE, Texas (April 29, 2014) – Josh Baughman is wiping the slate clean following a frustrating weekend in Texas.

Baughman is scheduled to pilot his Jason Johnson Racing sprint car this Friday at Outlaw Motorsports Park in Wainwright, Okla., with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour and on Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., with the ASCS Warrior Region.

“We’re going in with a clear state of mind and trying to get back on track,” he said.

Baughman had a couple of solid performances stymied by crashes during the ASCS Lone Star Region races at Lubbock Speedway in Lubbock last Friday and at Abilene Speedway on Saturday.

“Every time we got back in the car we brushed everything off and started clean,” he said. “That’s what we’re going to do this weekend.”

Baughman opened last weekend by finishing third in his heat race at Lubbock Speedway. That started him on the outside of the sixth row for the main event, which was shortened to 20 laps because of track conditions.

Baughman began to move toward the top 10 before a flat right rear tire forced him to the work area early in the main event.

“We came back on and were up to seventh,” he said. “Then a car in front of me spun out and we had nowhere to go. It got us upside down and ended our night.”

Baughman was credited with a 16th-place result.

The team headed to Abilene Speedway on Saturday.

“Wayne (Priddy) and the guys gave me a fast car,” he said. “We just couldn’t capitalize on anything.”

After rallying to a fifth-place finish in his heat race, Baughman lined up 12th for the main event.

“We were up to fourth at one point and the caution put us back to sixth,” he said. “After the caution I went to pass Kolt Walker on the outside and I probably squeezed in where I shouldn’t have. A lapped car got into me and knocked my front end out. It was a lack of patience on my end. I should have waited a lap to try to make that pass. I tried to force something that wasn’t there.”

Baughman was unable to restart following the collision midway through the main event. He finished 16th for the second straight night.
