Week two of the Lucas Oil Knoxville Championship Cup Series rolled on Saturday for Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team as they aimed to rebound from a flat tire that retired them from competition on opening weekend.
The night got underway with qualifying as Dollansky timed in 8th fastest at 15.676 seconds among the 31 cars signed into the historic half-mile. Heat competition saw Dollansky start outside row two and gain one spot in the 8-lap event finishing 4th.
Luck of the draw by way of an eight pill put the Aggressive Hydraulics backed sprinter on the pole for the 20-lap A-Main where ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ raced Mark Dobmeier into turn one with the #7 taking the early lead. Approaching lapped traffic by just lap 5, Dollansky continued to hold the lead before a red on lap 9. With Mother Nature lurking, light rain descended on Knoxville Raceway but action resumed with the Eyecon Trail Cameras Maxim fending off a slidejob from Terry McCarl on the ensuing restart. Following two additional cautions by lap 17, Dollansky brought the field up to speed one last time and set the pace in the final three circuits going on to take the checkered flag for the 13th time in his career at Knoxville Raceway.
“It’s great to get a win for Big Game Treestands, Aggressive Hydraulics, and everyone that supports this race team. We have a bit of a new crew and team we’re building back up even though we have the same number,” commented the Elk River, Minnesota native. “ We kept working with our car, Scott Vogelsong and Brian Shaefer did a great job and kept digging. I’m just happy for our entire team, anytime you win a race is an awesome feeling and Knoxville Raceway has a very competitive weekly program.”
