Downforce Designs Sponsors Midget Power Rankings!

Lonnie Wheatley, TULSA, Okla. (April 25, 2014) – With the racing season kicking into high gear, Downforce Designs has signed on as title sponsor of the Midget portion of the Open Wheel Power Rankings for 2014.

A part of the recurring “The Wheatley Chronicles” series of articles on www.racinboys.com, the Open Wheel Power Rankings are determined by cumulative points based on a sliding scale dependent upon car count at Sprint Car and Midget events across all sanctions and non-sanctions throughout North America.

In addition to the Downforce Designs Midget Power Rankings, other divisions in the Open Wheel Power Rankings include STIDA Winged 410 Sprint Cars, Keizer Wheels Non-Wing 410 Sprint Cars, Rod End Supply Winged 360 Sprint Cars, Beaver Stripes Non-Wing 360 Sprint Cars and 305 Sprint Cars presented by Dodge City Raceway Park.

Christopher Bell is out to the lead in the 2014 version of the Downforce Designs Midget Power Rankings after taking the top spot in 2013. Bell edged Zach Daum by 39 points for the top ranking in 2013 with Darren Hagen, Andrew Felker and Rico Abreu also in the top five. The balance of the top ten included Bryan Clauson, Brad Kuhn, Tracy Hines, Ronnie Gardner and Alex Bright.

Bell is currently 49 points ahead of Kokomo Grand Prix sweeper Abreu in this year’s Downforce Designs Midget Power Rankings with Daum, Chili Bowl champion Clauson and Dave Darland in the top five.

A half-dozen events are on tap for the Downforce Designs Midget Power Rankings for this weekend including a POWRi double in Illinois at Jacksonville and Macon on Friday and Saturday, ARDC at Williams Grove on Friday and then Saturday tilts including POWRi West at Oklahoma City, BCRA at Placerville and the season opener for Midgets at Montpelier.
