Inside Line Promotions – HUTCHINSON, Kan. (April 22, 2014) – Jordan Weaver captured her first top 10 of the season last Saturday during the NCRA event at the Kansas State Fairgrounds.
As exciting as the result was, Weaver was just as enamored with the size of the track.
“That place is huge,” she said. “That place seems a lot bigger than Devil’s Bowl Speedway. It was a big learning curve for me.”
It took Weaver a few laps to settle into the track, which is listed as a half-mile oval. She advanced from sixth to fifth place during her heat race, which started Weaver on the inside of the fifth row for the main event.
“I kinda just maintained and got used to running that fast,” she said. “It was really windy so we were whipped around quite a bit. Just running the cushion and being up top is something I haven’t got to do much.”
Weaver maintained a top 10 for the first three quarters of the feature.
“When I got by myself I started focusing on my line and just getting comfortable,” she said. “I reeled in seventh and eighth place. I ended up spinning out and had to go to the back.”
After restarting at the back, Weaver maneuvered into the top 10 and ended with a ninth-place result.
“It was mostly about keeping the car straight,” she said. “We tried a few different setups and different bars. We were just learning on something like that.”
Weaver is slated to compete in the 305ci and 360ci classes this Saturday at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan.
