Covington Motorsports- GLENPOOL, Ok. (April 16, 2014) After a deep draw in the heat race, Matt Covington ended with a subpar 15th place finish at I-30 Speedway this past Saturday night.

Racing with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour at the fast quarter mile, Covington would start the night off on the outside of the third row in his heat.

“We were able to get a good start and work our way into the fourth position,” stated Matt. “Once I got into fourth the cars in front of me were good cars and we was all about the same speed, which left us nose to tail on the bottom”

With the heat race finish and added passing points, Covington would slip his way into the tail of the A-main and start in the 15th position.

Once the A-Main got underway, Matt would work to advance into the top-10.
Matt would race hard with a handful of cars in front of him. With the track being very slick and one lane on the bottom, Matt would lose some of the spots he gained as he went to the top trying to make something happen. This would cause Covington to slip back to the 15th position where he started at the finish.

“The track was very slick and one lane around the bottom,” he said. “We went to the fence and watched the B-Main before our feature and we honestly over tighten the car. I was too tight in the feature and had a hard time setting up any passes coming off the corners. Slipping back at the end was just me trying to go to the top and make something happen with everybody running the bottom. I am a little disappointed in our finish, but we will learn from it and go on and try to do better at the next race.”

Matt and his Covington Motorsports team would like to thank T&L Foundry, Triple X Chassis, Winters, Brodix, C.G. Martin Company, Factor 1 Racing, All-Star Performance, Outlaw Wings, Pro Shocks, DMI Components, Keizer Wheels, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, GME Steering, Wesmar Racing Engines, Bob Hurley RV, Eaton Industrial, Maxwell Oil, and Schoenfeld Headers for their support in 2014.
