Inside Line Promotions – PORT ROYAL, Pa. (April 7, 2014) – Trey Starks enjoyed his first-ever visit to Port Royal Speedway and for good reason.

Starks took to the fast half-mile oval quickly and he recorded a top-10 result for the second straight week against the Pennsylvania Posse last Saturday.

“Port Royal is a really cool track,” he said. “It’s really fast. It kinda reminded me of a Williams Grove Speedway and Knoxville Raceway combined because of the big, wide, fast corners. It got real slick so you had to really be on top of your throttle control and be on top of your driving.”

Starks charged from sixth to third place in his heat race to earn the final spot in the feature redraw.

“We got a pretty good start and I used a lot of what you use at Knoxville, using a lot of brake and throttle at the same time,” he said. “We were really fast. I got the last redraw spot and I was the last person to draw and I didn’t even have to draw. They left me the No. 1, which was pretty cool.”

Starks pulled the No. 1 to be given the pole position for his first main event at Port Royal Speedway. However, the car was slightly off in the 25-lap feature.

“We just weren’t on top of the setup,” he said. “It’s a shame we had to give up that No. 1 spot, but it was a big learning deal. We definitely know what we had wrong and what we need to change. We couldn’t get off the corner as good as everybody else. You just lost all your speed.”

Starks salvaged an eighth-place result, which marked a top 10 for the second consecutive week.

“That would have been a huge win, but I’ll take another top 10,” he said. “The great thing about Pennsylvania is everybody is willing to help out. Everybody appreciates racing.”

Starks will compete this Friday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., which rained out last weekend, and at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday. He will conclude the weekend by making his first-career appearance at Susquehanna Speedway Park in Newberrytown, Pa.
