Graves Motorsports Focusing on Creating a Neutral Setup

Inside Line Promotions – LUBBOCK, Texas (April 7, 2014) – Graves Motorsports is in a selective experimentation stage regarding race setups.

Driver Kolt Walker is working toward perfecting a neutral setup that the team can use at any track.

“We’re trying to get something to where each track doesn’t have its own setup,” he said. “You can have a neutral setup and then just fine-tune it at each race.”

The team has made changes to its shock program and have worked with different torsion bar combinations in addition to fixing the steering issues that the program has battled with last season and during the season opener last month.

“We made a pretty big shock change,” Walker said. “We’ve been on gas shocks forever. We tried to take some of the gas pressure out of our shocks trying to get more feel in the race car when the track goes to slick, smooth conditions. We pretty much have a handle on it when it’s earlier in the night or the track is faster and rougher.”

The team will return to action during the ASCS Lone Star Region doubleheader on April 25 at Lubbock Speedway in Lubbock, Texas, and on April 26 at Abilene Speedway in Abilene, Texas.

“I think we’re on the right trail and I’m excited to try the new ideas at Lubbock Speedway in a couple of weeks,” Walker said.
