Meyers Sees Strong Night End Early

PETERSEN MEDIA- Back aboard the Tarlton Racing entry in Calistoga, CA over the weekend, Jason Meyers had some bad luck bite him on Sunday night, as a broken muffler disqualified him from his fifth running position with just five laps remaining.

“We had some bad luck, and had a muffler snap off in the feature,” Meyers said. “We had a great car, and were sitting in a great spot late in the race, and I really hate it for everyone involved.”

Timing in ninth fastest on Sunday, Meyers went on to pick up the heat win aboard his Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son/Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino earning a spot in the Dash, where he lined up on the pole.

Not getting the jump he was hoping for, Meyers battled with Daryn Pittman for half a lap before settling into the third spot, where he would finish in the six-lap contest.

Lining up in the second row for the 25-lap feature, Meyers settled in the fourth spot as he chased after the Kasey Kahne Racing trio.

As the first 20-laps went off without a hitch, Meyers stayed with in striking distance, as he looked to crash the KKR party at times, though he soon felt pressure from Rico Abreu.

Rolling the bottom of the speedway, Meyers clipped the berm on the bottom of the speedway, and checked up, allowing Abreu to get by, and he slipped to fifth.

The contact with the berm ripped his muffler off, and under caution, Meyers was disqualified, and credited with a 24th place finish.

Saturday night saw a very sticky and heavy track making passing tough for most teams in action.

Timing in 14th fastest, Meyers would finish sixth in his heat, putting him in the seventh row for the feature event.

On a track that was demanding, and fairly narrow, Meyers hit his marks, and held on for a 14th place finish.

“It was great to get back in the car this weekend, and I was really hoping we could get the finish this team deserves on Sunday night,” he explained. “I can’t thank everyone enough, and am really looking forward to getting back to Hanford on Friday night.”

Tarlton Racing would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2014 season.

ON TAP: Meyers will return to action this weekend in the Tarlton Racing No. 21M machine on Friday night at the Kings Speedway in Hanford, CA.
