Brandon Hahn Continued to Show Speed at Devil’s Bowl Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (March 25, 2014) – Brandon Hahn continued to show elite speed in the early stages of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event at Devil’s Bowl Speedway last Friday.

“In hot laps we had a good car and I got a good draw,” he said. “I just happened to have a four-time ASCS champion next to me. I tried to hold him off as long as I could.”

Hahn, who started on the pole of his heat race, led for approximately the first half of the eight-lap heat before four-time Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour champion Jason Johnson was able to take the top spot.

“We had a yellow and I went into turn one and overdrove my line a little and let Jason get by me,” Hahn said.

After hanging on to the runner-up position in the heat race, Hahn was the first driver to not advance directly to the main event. That started him on the pole of a B Main, which transferred the top three to the feature.

“We had some oil leaking problems and a valve cover was leaking,” he said. “We lost some oil pressure so I pulled off.”

Hahn exited the track early and was forced to use a series provisional to start 24th in the 25-lap feature.

“They reworked the track right before we went out and we were way, way, way too tight,” he said. “We couldn’t do much. We were just holding on. It was driving like a big dump truck out there.”

Hahn ended with a 19th-place finish.

“I learned that on the restarts you’re going to have to cover your line and make sure you don’t overdrive the corner,” he said. “I’m going to apply that next weekend and see how it goes.”

Hahn is scheduled to return to Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Saturday for the conclusion of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader, which was postponed a week because of the threat of weather.
