After a week off from racing the Team 1HD sprinter was ready to roll this past Saturday at Jackson Speedway. The night started out with Jake Leighty taking his turn at drawing for the first time this year and he pulled a 27 out of 30 so needless to say his drawing privleges have been revoked for a little while. Starting last in his Heat race Jake managed to finish 6th on a one lane tacky lightning fast track. This would set Jake up for a 18th starting position in the main event.
The track was rough and tacky all night and at the drop of the flag Jake made a great move on the bottom passing 5 cars in turns 1&2 only to see the #6 of Danny Heskin flipping alongside him in turn 4. This would make for a complete restart. On the re-start more than one driver made sure Jake would not be able to excute the same manuever twice. Midway through the race Jake made contact with another car battling for position damaging the fron suspension. The 1HD car was still fast but it seemed like everytime Jake made a great move the yellow would fly and we had to give back a spot or two because they go back to the last complete lap scored. Jake managed to finish 11th damage and all after starting 18th and without the damage I am sure he would have had more.
Hopefully mother nature will quit messing with the track we sure hate to see all the tore up equipment like last night. All in all it was a successful night. The car is in one piece and the motor is hitting hard. The team is ready for the next one.
