After three cancellations of the season opener Icebreaker 30 at Lincoln Speedway, the fourth time was a charm for Adam Wilt and the Wide Open Motorsports team. The anticipation of the upcoming season was high in the team garage with the addition of veteran crew chief Lee Stauffer, to the already seasoned and dedicated crew, but visiting victory lane was not the expectation. “This is a great win for a new team. But we don’t want to set expectations too high right now, said Adam, “We just want to go as we go and do what we can do."
With his victory on Saturday, its the second time in three years that Adam has taken the checkered flag at Lincoln's opening day "Icebreaker 30". Its his fourth career Lincoln victory and his sixth overall, with the two others coming at Williams Grove Speedway.
The 2014 looks to be similar as years past with a little traveling and racing Williams Grove and Lincoln Speedways' most of the time. The team has plans to hit Knoxville Raceway for the Knoxville Nationals in August, Eldora Speedway in July for prestigious Kings Royal, and also in July the Lernerville Speedway for the Don Martin Memorial. Those are a few high profile races the team plans to attend this year.
