NEWCASTLE, OK: After winning a Preliminary Mini-Sprint feature in the Ryan Craighead Memorial at I-44 Speedway in Oklahoma, Trey Marcham is now looking to flex some muscle in the UARA-STARS race at Rockingham Speedway on Satuday.
“Winning that race was awesome,” said Marcham. “That was a two day show and we won on the first night. We won the heat race and started in the second row. We were able to take the lead when the green flag flew and we led every lap. It was exciting to bring home the hardware. Winning races is always a great feeling and I hope we can win a lot more this year.”
The 75 lap UARA race at Rockingham will be Marcham’s first race at the track known as The Rock.
“It’ll be good experience,” Marcham said. “I’ve never been there so I don’t know what to expect. I’m sure we’ll learn some things about tire management and all that though. I’m just hoping to have a solid run and learn a lot.”
It’ll be Marcham’s third week in a row in as many states racing a different car. Two weeks ago, Marcham competed in the USAC Midgets in Bakersfield, California. Last week, he raced in the Mini Sprints and this week he will race in the asphalt UARA Late Model Stock Car.
The UARA-STARS Series race at Rockingham will be on Saturday, April 13th. The cars will practice on Friday, qualify on Saturday morning and the 75 lap race will go green at 2:00pm EST on Saturday afternoon. The race is part of a weekend tripleheader where Marcham will have the chance to race in front of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series owners and drivers.
The last Late Model Stock Car race Marcham competed in was the Myrtle Beach 400 in March. Marcham was running near the front of the pack and challenging for the lead when he was taken out by a competitor.
“That’s behind us,” said Marcham. “We showed that we can perform in these Late Models and we were running up towards the front. It certainly gave us confidence knowing we were racing up there with some of the best in the business. Our crew does a great job and I’ve got a lot of confidence in them.”
Trey Marcham has 11 years of experience from NASCAR Late Models, A-Class, Non Wing and Multi class mini-sprints to Midgets. He is currently leading in points for the USAC Western Midget Rookie of the Year award. His goal on the east coast is to compete in the K&N East Series and move onto the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
