Trey Marcham Claims First Career Midget Victory in Dominating Fashion

Storming to the lead on the second lap, Oklahoma’s Trey Marcham made his first-ever Midget win look easy in the McQueen Racing #37 Spike/Esslinger by Duane McQueen, cruising to a commanding straightaway victory in the Bay Cities Racing Association (BCRA) feature at the 3/8-mile Petaluma Speedway on Saturday, August 10, 2013.

Starting sixth on the grid that included his car owner/teammate Shannon McQueen, Marcham jumped into second place on the opening lap, then took the lead on Lap 2, picking off cars with methodical passes high and low, some even three-wide. After taking command of the lead, Marcham never looked back, winning the 30-lap green-to-checker main event in seven minutes, 38 seconds, taking the win over drivers with several years and main event wins under their belt – in his first-ever appearance at the Petaluma track.
“This is an excellent win. We’ve had a great car and are super happy to break through and get this win,” states Trey, who debuted in a Midget at the 2013 Chili Bowl Midget Nationals and has now made only eight Midget starts. “I couldn’t have done this without the support of my family, all our wonderful sponsors, and of course, McQueen Racing.”

Marcham, a senior Engineering student at Oklahoma University, with experience and wins in Micro Sprints, Ford Focus Midgets, 360 non-wing Sprint Cars and asphalt Late Models is a 6-time point champion and two-time Rookie of the Year at I-44 Riverside Speedway in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Recent honors include sweeping two twin late model feature races on July 4, 2013 at Myrtle Beach Speedway, and winning both the A-Class and Non-wing A Features at the 2012 Inaugural Donnie Ray Crawford Memorial/Race4Life in Tulsa in 2012.

“I hope this is the first of many more Midget wins,” states Marcham, who next competes in the 60th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions at the ¼-mile Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA in USAC-Western States/BCRA Midget action on September 5 in the McQueen Racing #37.
