Inside Line Promotions – ENUMCLAW, Wash. (Feb. 24, 2014) – Henry Van Dam is taking a different approach to his race schedule this season.
For the first time in nearly a decade Van Dam won’t be chasing points with any sprint car series or track. Instead, Van Dam will be chasing fun and pursuing his passion across the country.
“The last nine or 10 years we’ve ran for points every year,” he said. “I think this year is going to be the type of year where we don’t have to worry about points. We just show up to the race track and worry about that night only.”
Van Dam has approximately 45 races on his current schedule, which kicks off this weekend at Cocopah Speedway in Somerton, Ariz., for the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour’s season-opening Cocopah Cup Challenge.
Fans can watch the action all weekend from Cocopah Speedway via live Pay-Per-View from RacinBoys. For more information, visit http://www.RacinBoys.com.
Van Dam will also head to the Midwest this summer to compete in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Speedweek and he will join the premier 360ci sprint car series for its events in Montana.
“We haven’t been to Montana for four or five years,” he said. “We always have a lot of fun going to Montana. It’s something I’m looking forward to.”
Van Dam also has several events with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series, including its races in the Northwest as well as the FVP Outlaw Showdown in Las Vegas March 5-6.
“The way the schedules worked out we’re hitting races we haven’t been to, tracks we haven’t been to,” he said. “We can do quite a bit of quality racing.”
