Inside Line Promotions – PUYALLUP, Wash. (Jan. 16, 2014) – It’s a last-minute trip, but one that Trey Starks has dreamed of for a long time.

Starks embarks upon his first racing trip outside of the United States next week when he tackles a pair of Australian tracks as a pilot for Andy Caruana.

“Andy and his buddy helped me out for some races last summer during the ASCS Northwest Region Speedweek and then he bought one of our 410s so that’s actually the motor that I’ll be running,” Starks said. “He got a hold of me on Saturday and asked if I wanted to race. I’m really excited.”

Starks is scheduled to kick off the trio of 410 winged sprint car events on Wednesday at Avalon Raceway in Lara, Victoria, Australia, for the Essendon Ford President’s Cup. He will then compete in the 42nd annual Lucas Oil Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic, with preliminary action on Friday and the finale on Sunday at Sungold Stadium Premier Speedway in Warrnambool, Victoria, Australia.

“It’s pretty much like the Knoxville Nationals,” Starks said. “I think they have 118 entries right now. (Donny) Schatz will be there. Shane Stewart will be there. There’s like 20-some American guys that will be in it.”

The three races will open Starks’ season after he set a career-high with three feature victories last year.

“I’m always really excited to go to new tracks,” he said. “The facilities down there look awesome. It’ll be cool to see some new people and see good tracks. I know tracks are a little smaller and narrower down there, but I know they race well. I’m excited to see what we can do down there and how well I can adapt to the tracks.”
