KNOXVILLE, IOWA (November 27, 2013) - The National Sprint Car Museum will be taking its popular “Sprint Car 101” forums on the road as NSCHoF inductee Galen Fox, and his sons Brad and Steve, will host “Remembering the South Central Indiana Racing Association (SCIRA)” on Thursday, December 12. The free and open-to-the-public panel discussion will take place in the main building of the Foxco Engineering shop at 8775 East U.S. Highway 36 in Avon, Indiana, at 7 p.m. It will be hosted by noted historians Dr. Pat Sullivan and Dave Argabright.
According to museum curator Tom Schmeh today, “Ron Scheffel and his son Derek, and Galen Fox and his boys Brad and Steve, have really stepped up to the plate to make this panel discussion a reality. We plan to have people like Richard ‘Butch’ Wilkerson, Allen Barr, Galen Fox, Danny Smith and others on-hand to tell stories about the good old days of the SCIRA. I hope multi-time SCIRA champion Bob Kinser is up to joining us that night as well. We are also encouraging people to bring their own lawn-chairs to make sure that we will have enough seats for everybody. With Pat Sullivan and Dave Argabright as moderators, you won’t want to miss this special presentation of Sprint Car 101, which is being held in conjunction with the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Trade Show in Indianapolis.”
Anybody in south central Indiana that would be willing to post flyers of this event in their town are encouraged to contact Tom Schmeh at tschmeh@sprintcarhof.com. The flyers have old SCIRA photos on them, courtesy of John Mahoney and Billy Sheppard. Those individuals interested in learning more about the “Sprint Car 101” series of forums, presented by the non-profit National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum, are urged to visit www.sprintcarhof.com.
