Inside Line Promotions – ENUMCLAW, Wash. (Nov. 19, 2013) – Henry Van Dam is ready for a fresh start to next season after a challenging campaign in 2013.

“I didn’t have too many highlights this year looking from past seasons to this season,” he said. “It was a season we really had to fight. I think we definitely learned a lot this year and we know the direction we want to go in. I think we’ve got a better grasp of what we’re looking for to get things pointed back in the right direction.”

Van Dam finished with 11 top-five finishes and 25 top 10s, but his lone victory – at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash., on June 15 – stands out.

“Overall it was a good night,” he said. “The adjustments we made were in the right direction. The track had multiple grooves. Our car could run the top, run the bottom, run wherever we needed to. That was one of the things we struggled with this year, not being able to move around on the race track. That was a night that we hit it.”

Van Dam placed second in the ASCS Northwest Region standings for the third straight season and was second in points during the ASCS Northwest Region Speedweek as well.

“It was the type of deal this whole year where we’d have good heat races,” he said. “When we had a really good car we’d start deep, like 18th or 20th. The nights we had a good starting spot we couldn’t capitalize. I think there were nights we had a lot better car than we showed, but our starting position hurt that.”

Van Dam said the team will travel more next season and that will likely cut down on the amount of races.

“I think there’s a lot up in the air right now,” he said. “I would say 40 races would be our max and 25 would be our minimum. We’ve obviously ran everything in the Northwest multiple times. I’d like to get to some tracks that we’ve never been to. We put all this work into it to go have fun.”

Regardless of where he races, Van Dam said there is one common denominator.

“I want to thank everyone who supports this team,” he said. “It’s amazing to be surrounded by so many great people.”
