Inside Line Promotions – SOMERTON, Ariz. (Nov. 12, 2013) – Logan Forler wrapped up the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season with a runner-up finish on Saturday at Cocopah Speedway.

His 11th and second-place results, respectively, at the Cocopah Cup Challenge placed him a career-best sixth in the championship standings with the premier 360ci sprint car series.

“I guess it went ok,” he said. “It was a little bit disappointing, but it was alright. We got better as the weekend went on.”

The weekend began with another high draw, which started him eighth in a heat race on the heavy 3/8-mile track.

“I kinda made a bet with my dad that we would draw worse than last weekend and we did,” he said. “I moved up a little in the heat race. The track was pretty heavy. We gained enough positions to start decent in the B Main.”

Forler advanced from eighth to fifth place in his heat race, which started him on the pole of a B Main. He led the entire consolation to earn a transfer to the main event, which he started 17th.

“In the feature we didn’t get the car tight enough,” he said. “I couldn’t maneuver it how I wanted to.”

Forler advanced to an 11th-place result and the team made some changes prior to the season finale on Saturday.

“I changed a bunch of stuff back over to the way I used to have everything,” he said. “The car was really, really good in the heat race.”

Despite a bad vibration, Forler charged from fifth place to pick up the victory in his heat race, which earned him the most points out of all the competitors and a trip to the feature redraw.

“I had a really bad vibration the last two laps of the heat race,” he said. “We changed rear ends and went through the motor and it fixed the vibration.”

Forler pulled the No. 2 in the random draw to start on the outside of the front row for the $20,000-to-win feature.

“At the beginning of the race I was a little tight and then Jason (Johnson) got by me,” he said. “Then he drove by Tony (Bruce Jr.) and I think I got Tony on Lap 10. Then I was just chasing Jason the whole race. I got beside him a few times, but I think I used up my tires too early. At the end me and him were the same speed and I couldn’t do anything with him. We were right there the whole race.”

Forler maintained a podium position for the 30-lap feature and he finished a close second. It marked his 24th top-five result of the season.
