Inside Line Promotions – SOMERTON, Ariz. (Nov. 12, 2013) – Brandon Hahn is pleased with the way he capped his inaugural season on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

Hahn made the main event both nights during the Cocopah Cup Challenge last weekend at Cocopah Speedway en route to his 10th-place result in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour championship standings.

“The overall weekend wasn’t bad,” he said. “All of our stuff is in one piece and we improved on last year. It was a good weekend.”

Hahn learned a lesson during his heat race on Friday at the 3/8-mile track.

“The first corner I started on the outside and the track was so heavy it was a mistake on my part,” he said. “I should have cut the corner off and went to the bottom. The whole track was the same speed and I took the long way around. I got passed by a couple of cars there.”

After starting on the outside of the front row, Hahn finished fourth. That sent him to a B Main, which transferred the top three to the back of the main event. Hahn started fourth and quickly advanced to third place before losing a couple of positions on the fast track. He ended with a fifth-place result and used a provisional to start the main event 24th.

“The track was really heavy like the first two races on the Southwest trip,” he said. “I was starting in the back. I told my dad to tighten it up. We threw some wholesale changes at it to try some stuff.”

It took a few laps for Hahn to adjust and once he did he picked up a few positions to finish 19th, which marked his 26th top 20 of the season.

“The car was there,” he said. “It was just me. I didn’t get my rhythm until about Lap 15.”

Hahn returned to Cocopah Speedway on Saturday, when he started on the pole of his heat race during the season finale.

“It was one of those deals where we went into turn one and I just missed the bottom coming off (turn) two,” he said. “Mason (Moore) got by me. We stayed with him for a good portion of the race.”

Hahn finished second in his heat race, which earned him enough points to advance to the $20,000-to-win feature. He started 16th in the 30-lap main event.

“We got lapped really quick,” he said. “If you get lapped in that few of laps you don’t need to be out there. We had been lapped by Jason (Johnson) and I didn’t want to cost anyone the race. I decided to pull in and go get them next season.”

Hahn was credited with a 25th-place result.
