CONCORD, N.C. - Oct. 23, 2013 - Daryn Pittman, driver of the Kasey Kahne Racing #9 Great Clips machine, has led the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series championship standings since winning the opening night of the 2013 season in Florida at Volusia Speedway Park. However, Donny Schatz, five-time and defending series champion driving the Tony Stewart Racing #15 STP/Armor All car, has cut the deficit to just 52 points after winning a staggering 22 races with only the two A-mains at the World Finals remaining.
The difference between finishing first and finishing last in an A-main at the World Finals can be up to 48 points. A driver can earn as many as 5 points in qualifying for setting quick time to 1 point for being fifth-quick. A pair of qualifying sessions on Thursday night will set the tone heading into the final A-mains on Friday and Saturday with a maximum of 310 points available that could tip the scale towards either driver.
