Blake Hahn Sets Goal of Earning A Main Position at Short Track Nationals

Inside Line Promotions - MESQUITE, Texas (Oct. 22, 2013) - Blake Hahn is ready to return to I-30 Speedway for this week's 26th Annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires.

He narrowly missed advancing to the $15,000-to-win Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour feature last season at the quarter-mile track in Little Rock, Ark., and is amped to take the next step this Wednesday through Saturday.

"I'm pretty excited because I'd rather be on a short track than any other track," he said. "There's going to be a lot of good guys there. Basically, if I could make the A Feature I'd be content."

In his inaugural Short Track Nationals last season, Hahn finished fourth in a B Main - two spots of a transfer - on his preliminary night. He then charged from fifth to second place in a C Main to advance to a B Main, which he maneuvered from 14th to eighth - one position away from making the main event.

Hahn registered his first career Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour heat race victory in August at I-30 Speedway en route to a top-10 finish on the surface that was changed in the offseason.

"I'd say we have a little bit of an advantage compared to some of the guys," he said. "I have a little more of a hold of the track than they will since they changed the track."

Hahn is coming off a frustrating appearance at Devil's Bowl Speedway last weekend. After the opening round of the 40th annual Winter Nationals was rained out on Friday, Hahn was hampered by a high pill draw on Saturday.

With 50 cars competing at the fast track, Hahn started his heat race seventh.

"I think we were up to fourth or fifth," he said. "My car is sucking down so much more fuel than anybody else is. We don't have a leak, but something is up. Coming out of the corners it'd die and pick back up. (Bryan) Clauson got us right at the line."

Hahn was relegated to starting eighth in a B Main, which transferred the top three to the back of the feature.

"The track was already taking rubber," he said. "They tilled up the bottom and the first lap it was throwing big ole dirt clods at us. I got hit in the shield and everything. After that blew off it was on the bottom."

He finished seventh in the consolation race.
