Dover Scores Sixth Top-Two Finish in Last Seven Races With Runner Up at I-80

Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (Oct. 15, 2013) – Although his winning streak was halted at three consecutive races, Jack Dover continued his hot streak by posting another podium finish on Saturday.

Dover charged from ninth to finish second in the Nebraska 360 Sprints event at I-80 Speedway, marking his sixth top-two finish in his last seven races.

“We’ve been winning a lot of races and I knew the day was going to come when we weren’t going to win,” he said. “I think second is nothing to be upset about.”

Dover experimented during his heat race and finished where he started – third.

“The track was really fast so I was trying a bunch of different lines,” he said. “If I would have run a consecutive line I probably could have ran first or second. I was trying to see what the track would do for the rest of the night.”

Based on points accrued during the heat races, Dover ranked ninth – one spot out of the redraw. That started him on the inside of the fifth row for the main event.

“We passed probably four cars in the beginning and then we slowly picked them off one by one,” he said. “There was a restart with eight to go and I was running third at that point. I was able to get up to second, but didn’t have anything for first. I set my car up for the top and everybody else was on the bottom. Once I got in second I tried following the leader in on the bottom and he put four car lengths on me. I just went back up where my car was working halfway decent.”

Dover’s second-place finish was his 23rd top five of the season.

He is scheduled to compete on Friday and Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for the 40th annual Winter Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

“Winning everything,” he said of his goal. “My confidence is still high and we’ve won there before so I think we can do it again.”
