Inside Line Promotions – PARK CITY, Kan. (Oct. 8, 2013) – The stats are staggering.
Jack Dover has won three straight races, four of his last five and seven of his last 11, capped last Saturday with the NCRA at 81 Speedway.
“I’ve got the best of everything right now,” he said. “I’ve got the best motor, best chassis and best shock packages. I was just asked if my car is motor fast or chassis fast. It’s confidence fast. My confidence is really high right now. Out of my whole racing career my confidence has never been this high and as a racer that’s huge.”
Dover, who entered the season aiming for a career-high 20 feature wins, is up to 15 victories and he returns to I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., this Saturday for a Nebraska 360 Sprints event. In seven races at the big track this season, Dover has earned four wins and six top-five finishes.
His success last Saturday at 81 Speedway began midway through his heat race, which he started third.
“The track was slick in hot laps and it was really heavy in the heat races,” he said. “The yellow came out in the middle of the heat races and I was running third. I just went around the top side in (turns) one and two and three and four and got around them. I got one car coming off (turn) two and the leader going into (turns) three and four.”
That gave Dover the most points of any driver during the heat races and put him on the pole for the 30-lap feature.
“We were good in lapped traffic,” he said. “We were passing with no problem and pulling away big time. With 11 laps to go my nose wing broke. That made me fight the car a lot. We weren’t as good in traffic then. Before I was driving the car in on the cushion. When that nose wing broke I kept the car in the slick part of the track to keep the car rotating.”
Dover held on for win, marking his seventh straight month with at least one victory.
