Knoxville Raceway Closes a Successful 2013 Season

KNOXVILLE, Iowa (October 7, 2013) – More than 250,000 racing fans amassed at the Knoxville Raceway during the 2013 season to witness the most exhilarating and intense dirt track racing in the world. Total payouts for the season reached a whopping $2,148,180.

Visitors hailed from 47 U.S. states, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Great Britain, Sweden and Guam — further establishing the prestigious Knoxville Raceway as a destination venue for all open wheel and dirt track fans.

Knoxville Raceway’s successful 2013 campaign all kicked off April 20 with the Lucas Oil Knoxville Championship Cup Series (KCCS) Season Opener, which set the tone for the thrilling 2013 season.

In addition to Lucas Oil KCCS events, Knoxville Raceway audiences were riveted by the 53rd Annual FVP Knoxville Nationals, the 23rd Annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals Finals, the Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals and the Advanced Auto Parts Monster Jam — among many other races, concerts and feature events.

The 2013 Season concluded Sept. 28 with the 10th — and most invigorating edition yet — Annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores Finals. Darrell Lanigan of Union, Kentucky, emerged victorious and took home $40,000 in the classic race.

2013 saw the legend of Donny Schatz grow as he captured his seventh Knoxville Nationals title in eight years. He was the deepest starting winner in Nationals history. Danny Lasoski also added to the history books when he won his 100th career race in a Knoxville Raceway feature event.

Bronson Maeschen edged out tough competition from the likes of Ian Madsen and Terry McCarl to take home the 410 Class championship as the overall point leader.

Clint Garner continued his reign as one of the most successful 360 Class drivers in Knoxville Raceway history with his fifth consecutive championship in 2013, overcoming challenges from Joe Beaver and Nate Van Haaften.

Larry Ball, Jr. sailed to victory in the 305 Class with a 316-point cushion as he prepares to move back to the 410 Class in 2014.
