Tulsa Oklahoma (September 30, 2013) – After fourteen straight racing events without a rainout, Mother Nature decided to make another 2013 appearance when the West Siloam Speedway was forced to postpone the 21st event set for the winged warriors of the Oil Capital Racing Series last Saturday. West Siloam Speedway will now host the OCRS sprinters this Friday night, October 4th where Lindsay Oklahoma’s Harli White will look to sew up the 2013 OCRS title. White has led the series point’s chase from the outset and will look to become the first woman to win a sprint car championship in a traveling series within the central plains region.

White, in her second year of sprint car racing, goes into the West Siloam affair with a 124-point lead over seasoned veteran Danny “The Caretaker” Smith. With a maximum total of 95 points available per event, All White needs to do is leave WSS with a 96-point margin to be the OCRS champion. Smith went on record during an interview in 2012 stating, “In all my years of racing, I have never chased points for the purpose of winning a title.” Smith went on to say that his racing career was all about enjoying the sport and having fun. While Smith holds true to that outlook, hardware title will still be welcomed racing paraphernalia in the Smith Motorsports shop if the title were to come his way. Do note that the WSS date is FRIDAY night as opposed to the normal Saturday night trips to promoter Willie Gammill’s house.

Then on Saturday night, the band of sprinters will head 1.5 hours southwest to the Outlaw Motorsports Park in Oktaha, Oklahoma where first year promoters Carey and Nichole Menasco will host OCRS for the second time this season. Smith won his first of two victories this year at OMP in June and will look to sweep the OMP tour stops this Saturday night. OMP will have a separate stock car program that starts at 3pm then at 7pm, OMP will run another program featuring the OCRS sprint cars.

Other point battles in the top ten include the race for the third place spot as rookie Kade Morton (1289 pts.), veteran Johnny Kent (1264 pts.) and rookie Alex DeCamp (1209 pts.) are the three drivers embraced in the fight for that third position. Morton and DeCamp are also in a tussle for the coveted Brodix / PM Pro Rookie of the Year honors and these last two races will decide that race.

It’s been another fantastic racing season for the OCRS teams as evidenced by the series record 13 winners this season. This weekend will tell us if there is to be a 14th or even a possible 15th different driver to stake their claim to OCRS glory. The OCRS staff along with our partners at the West Siloam and Outlaw Motorsports Park Speedways look forward to seeing everyone one more time in 2013 as we look to go out with a bang!
