Inside Line Promotions - FORT WORTH, Texas (Sept. 26, 2013) - Logan Forler strapped in tight and held on for his 35th top-10 finish of the season on a rough track Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway.
"I don't necessarily like those tracks," he said. "I was trying to keep it on all four wheels, just survive."
After winning his Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour heat race during the Port-a-Cool U.S. Dirt Track Championship, Forler survived with a 10th-place result in a challenging main event on the tricky track.
"We were good in the heat race and the track kept getting worse and worse," he said. "We didn't keep up with the car for the track changes. The car wasn't quite right. Those type of race tracks aren't my type of race tracks. I always struggle on those."
Earlier in the night, Forler charged from third to take the lead early in his heat race. He held on for the win, which locked him into the feature redraw.
"I think I got it coming off (turn) two on Lap 2," he said. "I was a little tight. The car was really good in the heat race. It was fast. The track just made such a drastic change from the heat race to the main."
Forler then pulled the No. 7 to start on the inside of the fourth row for the main event. After his top 10, he remains sixth in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour standings.
Forler and the tour are set to compete on Friday and Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., for the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial.
"It's a really, really nice facility," he said. "The race track is usually pretty good. I'm looking forward to going there.
"I never really knew Jesse Hockett. I watched him race a lot. It's cool we can have a race in his memory. It's cool to show our respect to him."
