Big Game Motorsports Teams Hampered by Issues in Iowa and Minnesota

Inside Line Promotions - SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (Sept. 17, 2013) - Last weekend was a challenging one for Big Game Motorsports drivers Sammy Swindell and Craig Dollansky for a couple of reasons.

While mechanical issues plagued Dollansky and his Eyecon Trail Cameras team, Swindell was slowed by his first bout with kidney stones.

"Thursday afternoon I wound up having some pain and I have some kidney stones," Swindell said. "I just wasn't able to do everything I needed to do."

Despite a couple of visits to the emergency room, Swindell and his Big Game Treestands team competed with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series during the two races.

The weekend started on Friday at Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer, Iowa, for the Arnold Motor Supply Shootout.

Swindell qualified second quickest and placed fourth in the heat race to lock the Big Game Treestands car into the dash. He then advanced from seventh to fourth place in the dash to start the feature on the outside of the second row. However, he began to be hampered by the medical issue as the race wore on and he dropped to an 18th-place finish.

"We had a pretty good car for the first part, but it kinda went away and I wasn't feeling so great," he said. "It didn't work out. I just tried to suffer through it. Once I fell back I wasn't able to really keep up."

After qualifying ninth quickest, Dollansky led the first half of his heat race before a mechanical issue forced him to the pits early. Had he finished in the top two in his heat race it would have locked him into the dash and with an eight as the inversion, the Eyecon Trail Cameras car would have started on the front row of the dash.

"The unfortunate thing was we had a great opportunity," Dollansky said. "We had a mechanical failure. It put us behind the eight ball and chasing the rest of the night."

Dollansky won the Last Chance Showdown and finished 12th in the feature.

The teams hauled to Deer Creek Speedway for the Asgrow/DeKalb Clash at the Creek the ensuing night.

The Eyecon Trail Cameras car qualified eighth quickest and Dollansky won his heat race to advance to the dash. He then placed second to start the 35-lap feature on the outside of the front row.

"We had a decent night going," he said. "We didn't get qualified real strong, but were able to win our heat race and get in the dash. We weren't too bad and was leading the race and developed a mechanical issue and it ended our night. Two nights that we had a good shot to put another win in the win column, but unfortunately we weren't able to do it."

After taking the top spot on the opening lap and leading the first five laps, Dollansky took the Eyecon Trail Cameras car to the pits on Lap 6 because of a mechanical problem. He was credited with a 24th-place result.

Swindell battled through his medical issue for the second straight night. He qualified 15th quickest and narrowly missed the heat race inversion. The Big Game Treestands car placed fifth in a heat race to lock into the feature.

However, after a spin Swindell salvaged an 18th-place finish.

"We got tied up with some guys and wound up spinning," Swindell said. "I got through a few cars, but that was about it. I just really couldn't drive the car like I usually would. At that point it was try to finish the race and get out of there."

The Big Game Motorsports teams and the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series are scheduled to compete on Friday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, for the 4 Crown Nationals and on Saturday at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., for the Commonwealth Clash.

With only eight features remaining in the season, the Eyecon Trail Cameras car is fifth in championship points with the Big Game Treestands car sixth in the standings.
