Blake Hahn Rallies From Back to Score Sixth-Place Finish With ASCS Sooner Region

Inside Line Promotions - WAINWRIGHT, Okla. (Sept. 11, 2013) - Given the circumstances and being his first time at the track, Blake Hahn is very satisfied with the outcome.

Hahn overcame an opening-lap issue to charge from the back and score a sixth-place finish last Saturday at Outlaw Motorsports Park with the ASCS Sooner Region.

"I was excited after starting at the back and how dry the track was," he said. "I didn't think there'd be a ton of passing. It was pretty racy."

After winning his heat race from fourth place, Hahn was the high-points driver entering the feature redraw. However, he pulled the highest number - eight - in the random draw to start the main event on the outside of the fourth row.

Hahn then made contact with a spinning car in front of him on Lap 1.

"On the first lap Joe Wood Jr. spun out and I hit him with the right rear," he said. "It bent the bead lock in and was leaking slowly. We had a red the next restart and I pulled in and changed the right rear."

After the tire swap, Hahn restarted at the back of the pack and began to rally toward the top 10.

"The track was real, real dry and had a cushion so it was like slide job city," he said. "We had a total of three cautions and they were all in the first five laps. After that it was green to checkered."

Hahn capitalized in turns one and two.

"I was pretty good in (turns) one and two," he said. "I could carry quite a bit of momentum. It was kinda rough so they'd get upset and over the cushion. Turns three and four was on the wall. Every person I passed I slid them. That was the only way to pass."

With the top five in sight, Hahn finished sixth to overcome the early issue and record his 21st top-10 result of the season.

He is slated to compete on Saturday at Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas, with the ASCS Lone Star and ASCS Sooner Regions.
