Roger Iles Memorial and Kenosha County Fair Champion

Bristol, WI – August 22 2013. This past weekend Bill and the B2 Motorsports team headed south to the Wisconsin/Illinois border for a double header at the Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, WI for the Kenosha County Fair races and the Roger Iles Memorial. The night start off on Friday night with engine issues after laying down the 5th fastest lap of 31 cars on hand. With a bad vibration coming from the engine, the team put a fresh bullet between the frame rails in time for the B-main where Bill would line up in the 2nd starting position. Bill would follow the #80K of Mike Kertscher across the line to finish in the 2nd position and transfer into the feature. Lining up in the 12th starting position, Bill charged his way to the front where he would finish in the 2nd position just behind feature winner Jeremy Schultz.

The team returned to the third-mile oval on Saturday night in hopes of picking up the Roger Iles Memorial race which also had an increased purse with the winner taking home a sweet $3,600 in tribute to the late Roger Iles who carried the #36 back in the day. Saturday night’s track was a whole different animal as it was very slick compared to the heavy track from the night before. Bill would lay down the 3rd fastest lap of the 34 cars on hand setting him up with a 6th place starting position. From the drop of the green Bill was on the move and on the final corner of the final lap Bill would slide by the #23 of Russell Borland and pick up his 10th heat race victory of the 2013 season. Bill would be the top qualifier to transfer after the heat races were completed in which he would pull the #4 pill for the feature invert lining him up in the 8th starting position. When the green was out Bill quickly made his way into the 5th position and trailed the #14AJ of Wayne Johnson. Bill would try a couple sliders on Johnson, but Johnson would get back by. On lap #11, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place drivers were involved in a wreck taking them out of contention moving Bill up on the leader’s bumper for the restart. After a couple changes to the car and some fuel during a short open red period, Bill would trail previous night’s winner, Schultz as the green was out again. Soon Bill made his way by the #5J sprinter and opened up a sizable lead. The #80K of Kertscher was on the move, but Bill’s lead was too large and he would cruise to his 12th victory of the 2013 season picking up the Roger Iles Memorial and the Kenosha County Fair Championship.

Sunday night, Bill hopped into the Lein Acres #2 midget at the Angel Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI for the Miller Lite Cornfest Midget Classic. Bill would qualify the #2 midget 16th fastest of the 27 cars on hand. Lining up on the pole of his heat race, Bill would fight some throttle issues as he would nearly clip the wall the first lap and in the end finish in the 8th position. The crew made some changes in hopes to fix the issue as Bill would be lining up in the 3rd starting position in the B-main. Bill lost a couple spots in the B-main as he continued to fight the throttle issues finishing in the 5th position transferring him into the feature. After some more changes, the crew pushed to car to staging where Bill would line up in the 17th starting position in the feature. With the car working much more to his liking Bill methodically made his way forward a 10th place finish.

This Saturday, August 24th, the team will head south on Interstate 39 to the LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, IL for the 4th Annual Bill Waite, Jr. Memorial. Bill has won this event the past two years and he also picked up a 5th place finish at the quarter-mile bullring back in June with the World of Outlaws. The following weekend the team has a double-header planned for the Labor Day weekend as they will travel to the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds in Plymouth, WI on Friday, August 30th and then to the 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, WI on Sunday, September 1st.
