Inside Line Promotions – BRANDON, S.D. (Aug. 20, 2013) – Jack Dover ended a roller coaster weekend by recording his ninth victory of the season on Sunday at Huset’s Speedway.
Driving for Denny Wasmund for the third time this season, Dover led all 20 laps of the main event at the high-banked track to notch at least one win for the fifth consecutive month.
After charging from seventh to third place in his heat race, the feature inversion started Dover on the outside of the front row.
“I kind of messed up on the start,” he said. “I started on the outside of Robby Wolfgang. We drag raced down the frontstretch and he slid up in front of me in the first corner. I cut underneath him and got the lead going into turn three.”
Dover was about to tackle traffic when there was a caution around Lap 5. He got a strong restart and caught traffic just after the midpoint of the feature.
“The car would go wherever I wanted and everything worked out perfect,” he said.
Dover pulled away to capture the win at the sixth different track this season and it almost capped a perfect weekend.
On Friday, Dover competed with the NCRA and Nebraska 360 Sprints at Mid-Nebraska Speedway in Doniphan, Neb.
“The track was crazy,” he said. “It was throwing dust in hot laps. I thought it was going to rubber down in the heat races. It just got wide. It never took rubber until about 10 laps into the feature, but by then I had broke.”
Dover advanced from seventh to second in his heat race, which gave him the most points and started him on the pole for the main event. However, Dover brought out a caution on the second lap.
“It started running bad,” he said. “I pulled off and we switched MSD boxes. It was still doing the same thing. I made a lap and then I pulled back in. It sucks because everybody said I had a 10-car length lead in the first couple of laps.”
Dover finished 20th.
He is scheduled to compete on Friday at U.S. 36 Raceway near Cameron, Mo., with the ASCS Warrior Region.
