Willamette Speedway on deck for ASCS-Northwest

By Ben Deatherage Lebanon, Or. (August 14, 2013) Fans and teams alike for the American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region are excited to get back to racing this Saturday August 17th at Willamette Speedway. In fact the historic 1/3-mile Lebanon facility was the last place they were in action at a few weeks ago when the ASCS-National Tour made its way through the Pacific Northwest. This is the last chance you can see the best pilots in the west take on Willamette in 2013 so you do not want to miss this one.

The pit gates will open at 1:00 PM, front gates 3:30 PM, and racing should be getting started around 6:00 PM. Admission prices are Adults $17.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $13.00, Youths (6-12) $7.00, 5 and Under FREE, Family Pass (Two Adults and Up To Four Youths) $40.00.

There have been four ASCS sanctioned events this season at Willamette all of which has produced four different winners. The current campaign started all the way back in late May and saw Kyle Hirst win a thriller over Roger Crockett. Travis Rilat was the Bullydog Performance Speedweek Northwest presented by Contingency Connection feature winner in early July. National Tour regulars Jeff Swindell and Brad Loyet would be the visitors to victory lane in the last two sanctioned events held at Willamette.

Besides the four ASCS races that have taken place in 2013 Willamette Speedway has hosted the series a total of twelve occasions. In those twelve races nine drivers have graced the winner’s circle. Roger Crockett has had the pleasure of doing it the most with a total three times but has yet to win at Willamette this season. Wayne Johnson is the only other repeat winner with his two wins last year. Jesse Hockett, Kyle Larson, Logan Forler, Kyle Hirst, Travis Rilat, Jeff Swindell, and Brand Loyet all have one win each.

After this weekend the ASCS-Northwest Region will have little time to rest and recover as they will hit up the Cottage Grove Speedway on Friday August 23rd and head north to the Sunset Speedway Park in Banks on Saturday the 24th. Those two nights will be the last time the tour will be in the state of Oregon this year.

The Willamette Speedway has operated since the 1960’s and is a facility where high car counts and great racing are the norm. The venue will hosts weekly action comprising of DIRTcar Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Sportsman, Super Sports, Street Stocks, and Mini Trucks.
