Binz Credited With Fourth-Place Finish at Mountain Creek Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas (Aug. 5, 2013) – After a couple of challenging weekends, John Binz rebounded on Friday at Mountain Creek Speedway.

Binz was credited with a fourth-place finish, which is much needed momentum heading into a winged mini sprint doubleheader this Friday and Saturday at Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, Texas.

“The last two weeks haven’t been any fun,” he said. “To get a top five is something to build off of.”

Binz opened the night by starting third in his heat race. He pulled inside the leader on the initial start, which was called back. A similar situation occurred on the second attempt and Binz was called for jumping the start, which moved him back one row.

After restarting fifth, Binz ended up quickly advancing to third place, which is where he finished.

The main event was lined up based on points accrued during previous races at the track this season. Binz started on the inside of the third row, but missed a little on the setup.

“I got up to fourth at one time and slowly faded,” he said. “It’s not like we were terrible. We were a little bit off over a 20-lap race.

“There was one good spot getting into (turn) one on the bottom and I was too tight to run the bottom. The car was too tight and would throw me up the race track. The top was really, really slick. I ran the bottom in (turns) three and four the majority of the feature.”

Binz held on for a seventh-place finish, but three cars in front of him failed to scale.

“I’ll take a top five however they give it to me,” he said.

It marked his sixth top-five result of the season.
