Blake Hahn Learns Valuable Lessons During First Event at Knoxville Raceway

Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 30, 2013) - Blake Hahn's first trip to the famed Knoxville Raceway was eye-opening.

"It was different," he said. "The track was huge. It was a different type of racing. I haven't been on a track that big. Every time I went out there I was learning something new."

After going through an engine during a practice night on Thursday, Hahn and the crew put a new engine in for Saturday's race.

"Our hot-lap session was our qualifying," he said. "We had to go out there and hope everything was good. We didn't do very good."

Hahn qualified 31st quickest, which placed him eighth in a heat race. He finished in that position, which relegated him to the B Main.

"We changed a lot of setups from the heat race to the B Feature," he said. "I felt a lot more comfortable."

Hahn charged from 12th to place sixth in the consolation, which was only two positions out of transferring to the feature.

He will take those lessons into this weekend's 23rd annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals, which is Thursday through Saturday at the fast half-mile oval.

"From what everybody tells me it all depends on how you qualify," he said. "If we can get a good qualifying pill we can be all right. I'm not trying to show off or anything, especially not for my first time at the 360 Knoxville Nationals."
