Dover Drives to Eighth Feature Victory of the Season at I-80 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – RISING CITY, Neb. (July 23, 2013) – For the third time this season Jack Dover claimed back-to-back victories.

After winning the 57th annual Hutchinson Grand Nationals a week ago Saturday, Dover nabbed his eighth victory of the season on Thursday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., with the Nebraska 360 Sprints.

“It’s hard to go out and win a race because everybody is so competitive these days,” he said. “Having eight wins is a good feeling and I know there’s more coming.”

Dover maneuvered from sixth to finish second during his heat race, which locked him into the feature redraw as the highest points earner.

“The track was slick and I took my time getting through the field,” he said. “I was searching, trying to find a good line. I got most of them right at the end.”

Dover pulled the No. 2 to start the main event on the outside of the front row.

“I didn’t have a good start,” he said. “Ryan (Roberts) took off and beat me into the first corner. I sailed around the top side and was able to take the lead coming out of (turn) two and never looked back. The track was really slick. The last two laps it started taking rubber up top coming out of the corner.”

Dover pulled away for his second win of the season at I-80 Speedway.

On Saturday, he returned to Butler County Speedway – where he has won three main events this season – for a Nebraska 360 Sprints show.

Dover charged from fifth to win his heat race, which locked him into the dash and feature redraw. After claiming the $250-to-win dash from outside the front row, Dover started the feature fifth.

“We were up to fourth and the third lap into it the left front of my axle broke clean off,” he said. “I saved it from going into the wall. I don’t know how I did that. It took four laps under yellow and they went green. We didn’t have the front end done so we were stuck in the pits. The leader completed a lap, but the whole field didn’t cross before another caution. We kept working and I was able to make it back out.

“We came from the back up to third and then after the race everybody told me I was a lap down. They didn’t black flag me. They didn’t say anything on the radio. They didn’t tell me when I was rolling back on the track. I wouldn’t have gone out there if I had known I was a lap down. I thought I was racing for position.”

Dover was scored one lap down the remainder of the race and was credited with a 15th-place finish.

He is scheduled to compete at Crawford County Speedway in Denison, Iowa, on Wednesday with the Nebraska 360 Sprints and on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
