Dover Dominates 57th annual Hutchinson Grand Nationals for Seventh Win

Inside Line Promotions – HUTCHINSON, Kan. (July 16, 2013) – Surprise, surprise, Jack Dover found Victory Lane once again.

Dover led all 25 laps to garner the 57th annual Hutchinson Grand Nationals on Saturday at Hutchinson Raceway Park with the NCRA. It capped a weekend with a pair of podium finishes, raising his total to seven feature victories and 13 top fives in only 22 races this season.

After maneuvering from third to second place during his heat race, Dover earned the fourth-most points heading into the feature. That started him on the outside of the second row. However, he quickly gained the lead.

“I just set my car up really tight,” he said. “I knew it was going to rubber down so I wanted to have my car tight in the beginning because I knew it’d be slick. I just sailed the top. We were in the lead coming out of turn two. I never looked back from there.”

Dover said the track began to take rubber approximately eight laps into the feature and he adjusted accordingly.

“It was kinda bad because I set my car up so tight,” he said. “I just took it easy on the tires and coasted into the corners. The left rear (tire) was really good and the right rear was gone.”

It was his third win in the last nine races.

The weekend started on Friday with the ASCS Warrior Region at U.S. 36 Raceway near Cameron, Mo., where Dover charged from third to win his heat race. That gave him the second-most points entering the feature redraw.

However, the eight was pulled for Dover, who started on the outside of the fourth row for the 25-lap feature.

“We ran up to fifth and the yellow came out about eight or nine laps in,” he said. “I realized my left front shock was broke. I took the green flag to bring the yellow out again so I could get my three laps to get my car fixed.”

After returning to the track with a new shock, Dover restarted at the back of the pack.

“I was really running good on the bottom of (turns) one and two,” he said. “The car was working great there and I went hard in (turns) three and four up top.”

Dover rallied to finish third, which was his eighth trip to the podium this season.

He is scheduled to compete with the Nebraska 360 Sprints on Thursday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., and on Saturday at Butler County Speedway in Rising City, Neb.
