BUMPER TO BUMPER IRA OUTLAW SPRINTS RESUME SEASON THIS SATURDAY AT WILMOT!
IRA Stars Participate In World of Outlaws Events During Series Break
July 2, 2013; Wilmot, WI – With the first third of the 2013 racing season in the books, the stars of the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints had a brief break in the 2013 series schedule with a rare weekend off.
While some teams prepared for the upcoming event at Wilmot Raceway to be held on Saturday Night July 6th by tuning their machines in the shop, others would take to the track as the World of Outlaws Sprint tour presented three local shows this past week.
Two drivers, Kris Spitz and Bill Balog, would run in all three area World of Outlaws events which were held at LaSalle, Beaver Dam and Cedar Lake. Balog, the 5-time and defending IRA champ would make the A-main at each race recording a fifth place finish at LaSalle and a sixth place run at Cedar Lake. Spitz would make the A-main at Cedar Lake Speedway.
At the Beaver Dam WoO event five IRA regulars would make the A-main including Balog, Mike Kertscher, Jeremy Schultz, Wayne Modjeski and Todd King. Additionally, Matt Vandervere, Spitz, Scott Uttech, Phillip Mock, Nick Alden, Russel Borland, Robbie Pribnow, Brandon Thone and Jereme Schroeder were all on hand as IRA drivers represented about one-third of the field for the event.
All of the aforementioned drivers are expected to be in action this coming Saturday Night at Wilmot Raceway as a stout field of nearly 30 winged 410 Outlaw Sprints are expected to be on hand.
Kertscher, the 2012 Wilmot Raceway champ captured the A-main during the series last appearance at the third-mile clay oval fending off the challenges of Lucas Wolfe for the victory. Current Rookie of the Year leader Schultz finished third in the contest barely edging out fellow rookie Lance Fassbender and both drivers are expected to continue the rookie battle at Wilmot Raceway this Saturday night.
2011 track champion Tommy Sexton took this past weekend off but should be a major factor in the event having captured an IRA victory at his home track last season.
Scott Neitzel and Bill Wirth are two other top ten IRA point drivers expected to see action at the Wilmot event. Neitzel had a slow start to the season with but has since climbed into third in the standings based on the strength of four top five A-main finishes including a fourth place run at the most recent IRA event held at Oshkosh just two weeks ago.
Mike Reinke who got a late start to the season is also expected to be on hand having finally overcome mechanical gremlins with a strong second place showing at the Oshkosh event.
Admission for this special race program is $20 for adults. Adults with an active military ID will earn a $5 discount at the admission gate. Young fans ages 8 through 11 are admitted for just $5. Children ages 7 and under are admitted FREE with a paid adult.
Pit gates will open at 3:00pm with the grandstands opening at 5:00pm. Racing will start at 6:45 pm.
In addition to the Bumper to Bumper IRA Outlaw Sprints, Wilmot Raceway’s own Modifieds, Street Stocks and 4 cylinders will be in action.
Wilmot Raceway resides on the Kenosha County Fairgrounds which is located just north of the intersection of county roads C and W in Wilmot, WI. Wilmot is just 8 miles west of I-94 taking county highway C which is exit 345.
