Bryan Hulbert - TULSA, Okla. (July 1, 2013) The Speedway Motors Warrior Region will headline at two facilities this Independence Day Weekend. First the Double X Speedway in California, Mo. on Friday, July 5 followed by the Randolph County Raceway on Saturday, July 6 in Moberly, Mo.
Twenty-one drivers made the trip to the Double X Speedway for the Warrior Region’s first outing of the season at the quarter-mile on May 26, with Jonathan Cornell wiring the field. Under the ASCS banner, this Friday’s Double X Speedway visit will be the seventh time since 2011.
In six previous dates, three drivers have shared equal success with Randy Martin (5/29/11, 5/22/12), Kyle Bellm (7/3/11, 6/24/12), and Jonathan Cornell (7/22/12, 5/26/13) each winning at the quarter-mile oval.

A world apart in terms of track size, the high banked, half-mile, Randolph County Raceway awaits the ASCS Warriors on Saturday, July 6 for the first time. The first year back in operation since closing in 2010, this Saturday’s race has been named the Bob Whitehead Memorial.

Going into the weekend double header, Jonathan Cornell sits atop the driver standings, 122 ahead of Jay Russell with Cody Baker 52 points removed from the runner up spot. Following last Friday’s visit to the U.S. 36 Raceway, J.R. Topper has taken over fourth in the standings with Casey Baker completing the top five. Miranda Arnold, Wyatt Burks, Tyler Blank, Brian Brown, and Mitchell Moore complete the top ten.
A quick look as the season thus far finds eight dates completed with five winners. Jonathan Cornell has parked the VKCC Motorsports No. 28 in victory lane three times, followed by Johnny Herrera with two. Brian Brown, Jake Martens, and Seth Bergman each have a single triumph.
Drivers have completed 200 A-Feature laps in 2013 with Johnny Herrera leading 47. Jonathan Cornell has topped 34 circuits with Jake Martens at 25. Miranda Arnold stands at 23 while Kyle Bellm has 17 to his credit followed by Danny Lasoski (16), Seth Bergman (14), Brian Brown (12), Brandon Hahn (9), Cole Wood (2), and Taylor Walton with a single lap.
Seven B-Features have been run with five winners as well as 29 Heat Races among 20 winners. The ASCS Warrior Region has averaged 26.375 cars per event with the season’s highest car count coming at the combined regional event at the Springfield Raceway on April 20 with 40 drivers checking in.
Brian Brown and Jonathan Cornell have each led the driver point standings.
The 2013 season marks the twenty-second year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, which brings the best of Sprint Car racing to dozens of different tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series, ASCS also consists of eight different Regions throughout the nation.
