The Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints returned to racing action this past Saturday night at the fast high banks of Butler County Speedway (BCS). Earlier in the day BCS received an additional ½ inch of rain which required some additional work by Mid-Nebraska Land Development to prepare, but it was well worth the wait.
The evenings festivities started off with a bang when Gregg Bakker from Sioux Falls, SD set the fast time for the night with a quick time of 13.053. Bakker was followed by Mark Pace, Jack Dover, Tyler Drueke and Ryan Roberts with the top five fast times.
After time trials/hot laps were completed, the Nebraska 360 Sprints were not only having their regular show, but picked up where they left off from May 18th when Mother Nature prematurely stopped the racing action after 2 laps into the A Feature with a heavy dose of rain and wind. When the May 18th A Feature was resumed Billy Alley lead the field of 19 cars to the green flag. While racing with Jack Dover, Ryan Roberts lost a nose wing which prevented him from taking good line into turn 2 when he hooked a rut which sent him flipping which unfortunately destroyed his car for the night. After the restart, Jack Dover got around Billy Alley and led the remainder of the way to his 2nd feature win at BCS. Following Dover to the finish line were Alley, Bakker, Drueke, Stu Snyder, Cody Ledger, Trevor Grossenbacher, John Klabunde, Tige Jensen and Doug Lovegrove rounding out the top 10 finishers. After the feature was complete, Jack Dover pulled the “three” pill for the ESI Challenge which awarded Gregg Bakker, the 3rd place finisher an additional $300 to his share of the purse.
Once the make-up A feature was completed, the 30 Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints that were in the pits resumed their regularly scheduled racing action with 4 exciting heat races. After the heat races, Gregg Bakker, the winner of the Pizza Ranch Dash for Cash drew the “one” pill and the feature was lined up with Bakker taking the pole position. On lap number one of the A Feature Josh Riggins, who making his debut with the Nebraska 360 Sprints ran up over another tire which sent him flipping down the track. Riggins was extremely fast, but his luck ran out as he was finished for the night as a result of his crash. After taking the green flag once again, the racing action between Bakker, Dover and Drueke was hot and heavy with Dover finally taking the point. At the completion of the 25 laps, it was once again Jack Dover taking his 3rd victory at BCS with the Nebraska 360 Sprints. Following Dover across the finish line were Drueke, Jason Martin, Pace, Bakker, Eric Lutz, Alley, Grossenbacher, Snyder and Ryan Kitchen rounding out the top 10. After the race, Dover pulled the “four” pill for the ESI Challenge and Mark Pace, the 4th place finisher had an additional $300 added to his share of the purse.
Up next for the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints will be this Saturday, June 29th at the fast Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE. Come check us out and see if Dover wins his 4th consecutive race with the Nebraska 360 Sprints or if we have a new A Feature winner.
